Where Is Your Confidence? Tips To Help Get It Back
Life can knock us all down. Every Queen at one moment or another, has probably taken off her crown to regroup. Whether it’s a relationship that ended, not getting the promotion you wanted, or feeling like you are not where you want to be in life. It’s those kinds of moments that can make you lose confidence. However, if you don’t believe in yourself….who will? Getting that confidence back can make a difference in your life. It can motivate you to go after your dreams and goals. It can help give you a much-needed boost to keep going. Here are three tips to help you become more confident!
- Don’t Compare Yourself to Others- Constantly comparing yourself to what another woman is doing, how she looks, or what she has going on, will keep you in a state of competition and feeling less than your best. So stop comparing your life to someone else’s. All that glitters isn’t gold. You were made in the image of God and he created you to be a unique individual. There is no need to constantly compare yourself to someone you were never meant to be in the first place.
- Are You Mean? Do you often say mean things to yourself? “I’m so stupid why did I do that? I’m not pretty enough. I always mess up. I’m not smart enough.” If the answer is yes, then right now would be a great time to stop this bad habit. The more you say negative things about yourself, the more likely you are to believe them. Change that negativity and speak words that uplift and encourage you. Also, forgive yourself when you make mistakes or a decision that didn’t work out how you hoped. Dust yourself off, learn from it, and move forward.
- Take Care of You- We as women tend to take care of everything and everyone else around us, leaving little time for self-care. It’s important to take care of yourself… mind, body, and spirit. Eating a more healthy diet and adding an exercise routine can do wonders. It can help increase your confidence in how you look and feel. It’s not only important to take care of yourself physically, but also mentally. Be honest about how you are feeling. In the Black community, there is still a stigma when it comes to seeking professional help, causing so many to suffer in silence. It’s alright to seek out professional mental help in the times you feel it’s needed. Speaking with a pastor or spiritual leader is great too, but there is nothing wrong with seeking a therapist or counselor.
