Walking in Victory: What Holy Week Reminds Us About Jesus’ Resurrection

We are in the middle of Holy Week, and Easter is just a few days away but here’s the beautiful truth: we don’t have to wait until Sunday to celebrate. We can rejoice right now because we already know the truth that changed everything: He Is Risen. Holy Week isn’t just a stretch of days on the church calendar. It’s the path that leads us straight to the greatest victory in history and that is the moment Jesus walked out of the tomb with all power in His hands. This week pulls our attention back to the foundation of our faith: a risen Savior who kept His promise, fulfilled His word, and proved His love in the most powerful way.

Easter is not just a holiday. It’s not just the good chocolates and the “new church dress or outfit” we all swore we didn’t need but somehow ended up buying anyway. It’s the heartbeat of our hope. It reminds us that the grave couldn’t hold Him, death couldn’t defeat Him, darkness couldn’t silence Him, and the enemy couldn’t stop Him. Because He is risen.

The Beauty of the Resurrection

“But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” Luke 24:1-7

The resurrection is not just a moment in history; it is the reason we have hope today. Everything we are able to walk in such as peace, strength, confidence, and freedom comes straight from Him. Scripture reminds us, “Since I live, you also will live” (John 14:19). That is the foundation of our hope. We do not overcome because we have it all together; we overcome because Jesus already defeated everything that tried to defeat us. We do not walk in victory because of our own power; we walk in victory because His power lives in us. Scripture says it plainly: “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you” (Romans 8:11). And it goes on to say that just as God raised Christ, “He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

Holy Week reminds us that the cross was the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and the resurrection was the proof that His sacrifice worked. When the women arrived at the tomb, the angel said, “He isn’t here. He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.” Even when the enemy threw everything he had, it still was not enough to stop God’s plan.

This is why Easter is so meaningful. It is the foundation of our faith and the reason we can walk through life with confidence, joy, and steady hope, even when circumstances do not look like victory yet. The resurrection reminds us that God does His best work in places that look finished, empty, or impossible. And because He lives, we can face tomorrow.
