How to Stay Humble in a “Hustle Boss” Culture
We are living in a time where everybody is hustling, grinding, and posting about it. The “Hustle Boss” era is loud and full of women breaking ceilings, building brands, securing bags! They are achieving things our mothers and grandmothers could only pray for.
And listen… there’s nothing wrong with winning. There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious. There’s nothing wrong with leveling up. But somewhere along the way, success became a performance.
When you start acting like you’re the CEO of your own favor, it might be time to gather yourself before the Lord gathers you. We’ve all had that gathering moment… the kind that makes you sit up straight in your chair.
Social media has turned into a stage where everyone is showcasing their latest achievement, newest milestone, or biggest flex but rarely the sacrifice, the tears, the prayers, or the process behind it. It’s created a culture where we start to believe the lie that we did all of this on our own.
But the truth…
No matter how hard you work, how talented you are, or how many doors you push open, none of it happens without God making a way. Whether you’re climbing the career ladder, building a business, or stepping into new territory, humility keeps your heart aligned with the One who opened the door in the first place.
And since staying humble isn’t as easy as it sounds because this thing called human nature can get in the way, here are some reminders before your ego starts acting brand new.
Sis, this is one of those “adjust your crown and step back to take a pause” conversations, the kind we do with love over here in the Living In Queendom community.
Practice Gratitude
Take a moment to reflect on the good in your life and how far God has brought you. Gratitude reminds you that you didn’t get here alone. Think back to the moments you thought you wouldn’t make it out…but God! When you think of how He carried you, gratitude becomes your personal testimony, a reminder that every win is a reflection of His faithfulness, not just your hustle.
Engage in Service to Others
Jesus , the ultimate example of humility, served people without needing applause. If He could wash feet, feed people, and show compassion without a camera in sight, then we can serve without needing recognition. Whether you’re volunteering, donating, mentoring, or simply showing up for someone, service keeps your heart soft and your spirit grounded. Titles don’t matter. Status doesn’t matter. Serving reminds you that greatness is measured by humility, not hype.
Stay Prayed Up
Prayer is your anchor in a world that glorifies self‑reliance. Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us to pray about everything — not just the big moments. Prayer keeps you connected to God, aligned with His will, and aware of His presence. It centers you, calms you, and keeps your spirit grounded when the world is pushing you to do more, be more, and show more.
Stay Connected to Your Community
Surround yourself with people who will remind you who you are and whose you are. The right community will celebrate you, support you, and when necessary, lovingly bring you back down to earth. Because Queen… when you start feeling yourself a little too much, your people will gently remind you to sit down somewhere and stay grounded.
In a culture that glorifies hustle, performance, and self‑promotion, humility is a quiet strength. Staying grounded in gratitude, serving others, staying prayed up, and surrounding yourself with a solid community keeps your heart aligned with God and not the applause.
Humility doesn’t dim your shine. It keeps your shine connected to the one and only source.
