Overcoming Insecurity as a Woman of God: Reclaiming Your Confidence and Your Crown

Insecurity is like that annoying shadow that’s been following so many of us for years. It’s quiet, but it’s powerful. It doesn’t always show up loud, but when it does, it can shake your confidence, your choices, and your whole sense of identity. At its core, insecurity is a trick. It’s simply not seeing yourself the way God already sees you. It’s the difference between who you truly are and who you think you are. And in that gap, the enemy loves to play games. He knows that if he can keep you doubting yourself, he can keep you distracted. And if he can keep you distracted, he can keep you from walking fully in your calling.

Insecurity will have a woman doing some silly things… things we look back on and say, “Lord… why did I do that?” Because insecurity may seem quiet on the outside, but the actions are loud. It pushes you, pulls you, and convinces you to settle for less than what God intended.

Here’s how it shows up:

  • Staying too long — staying with a man who should’ve been left three red flags ago.
  • Shrinking yourself — dimming your light so others feel comfortable.
  • Overdoing everything — overgiving, overworking, and overproving.
  • Accepting crumbs — forgetting you’re the whole table.
  • Questioning your worth — doubting your beauty, intelligence, and value.

Insecurity will have you fighting for people who wouldn’t even clap for you. It’ll have you auditioning for roles God never told you to play. And while you’re busy doubting yourself, the enemy is somewhere laughing because this is one of his favorite tactics. He loves to distract you, decrease your confidence, and whisper, “You’re not good enough.”

Sis, this is your crown‑check moment. The enemy needs you unsure. An unsure woman is easier to distract, easier to discourage, and easier to convince she’s not enough. She opens up the door for insecurity to take root and when it does, it can affect everything.

  • Your confidence — you stop believing you can.
  • Your choices — you settle for less than God’s best.
  • Your relationships — you tolerate what drains you.
  • Your calling — you question what God told you to do.
  • Your clarity — you struggle to hear God clearly.

Insecurity keeps your eyes off God and glued to everything that makes you feel “not enough.” And if the enemy can keep your confidence low, he can keep your purpose delayed. Because once your confidence drops, your focus shifts. Instead of leaning into God and His will for your life, you start leaning into everything that feeds the insecurity. Suddenly, you’re not walking in purpose and find yourself performing.

Instead of trusting God and reminding yourself that He is the author of your life, you start competing. You limit your growth because you are busy keeping up appearances. Instead of allowing yourself to heal, you start filling voids and patching insecurity pockets with things that don’t last. This is exactly what the enemy wants. A distracted woman who’s too busy trying to be “enough” to realize she already is.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made, crafted by a God who does not do halfway, almost, or “getting there.” You are the head and not the tail, chosen with intention, shaped with detail, and designed with divine strategy. God didn’t create you with leftover pieces. He built you with purpose in mind. And the enemy knows that if you ever wake up and truly see yourself the way God sees you, it’s over for him.

Now, that doesn’t mean you’ll wake up perfect…none of us will. What it does mean is that you’ve allowed your God‑given identity to take root deep in your spirit and settle into your bones. It means insecurity no longer has the power to take you out. It may creep in, but it can’t control you. It may whisper, but you don’t believe it. It may wave its little “you’re not enough” flag, but you knock it down every single time because you finally know who you are and Whose you are.

A confident woman of God is dangerous to Satan and a real threat to darkness. When a woman finally knows who she is in Christ, everything about her shifts. She walks different because her steps are ordered. She chooses different because she knows her worth. She loves different because she’s rooted in God, not insecurity. She refuses to settle for anything beneath what God promised her. She refuses to chase validation because she already knows she’s chosen. And she absolutely refuses to beg for what she deserves, because she knows her identity, her authority, and her crown. A confident woman is not just strong, she is spiritually disruptive, and the enemy knows it.

You don’t need the world’s approval. You don’t need to hurry up and get any man you can find to validate you. You don’t need attention to feel worthy. You don’t need perfection to be powerful. You just need to remember who you are and Whose you are. You are a daughter of the King.

So when insecurity tries to wave its little flag again, let it know it can’t get comfortable. Because insecurity loves to pop up like one of those uninvited guests at the cookout, the ones who didn’t bring a dish, didn’t bring ice, didn’t even bring napkins, but somehow want to leave with all the leftovers. You have to remind it, thanks for stopping by but you can’t stay too long. Not in your mind, not in your spirit, and definitely not anywhere near your crown.
