How many of us have Bibles sitting on a shelf collecting dust? I have been guilty of it myself. It’s so easy to pick up your Bible one day, read a few scriptures, and feel motivated. Days go by, weeks, and sometimes even months. Before you know it, your Bible is sitting in the same spot collecting dust while everything else competes for your attention. But the good news is that we can always change that. So grab your “leave me alone, it’s quiet time” mug and come sit with me.
Queens, reading our Bibles is essential to our Christian growth. There is so much wisdom, encouragement, direction, and power found in God’s Word. The Bible isn’t just a book we read on Sunday mornings. It’s filled with lessons for everyday life. From dealing with difficult people to navigating seasons of waiting, disappointment, fear, faith, love, and forgiveness, there is a story, a scripture, or an example that speaks to almost every situation we face.
That’s why Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” God’s Word helps guide us when we’re unsure which direction to take. It provides wisdom when life feels confusing and encouragement when we’re weary.
One of the best ways to incorporate more of God’s Word into your day is to create a simple and realistic routine. Maybe that means reading one chapter each morning before you start your day. Maybe it means spending thirty minutes with your Bible before bed instead of doom scrolling on your phone. If you miss a day or two, don’t beat yourself up. Don’t let guilt keep you from getting back into God’s Word. Just pick up where you left off and keep going. Spiritual growth isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being intentional.
The more time we spend in God’s Word, the more familiar we become with God’s voice. We begin to recognize His promises, trust His character, and feed our spirits. A dusty Bible often leads to a dusty spiritual life, but a Bible that is opened regularly has the power to transform our hearts, renew our minds, and strengthen our faith.
This Week’s Tea: Don’t let God’s Word become another item on your to-do list. Let it become part of your daily life. Even a few minutes spent in Scripture can make a difference. Start where you are, be consistent, and trust that God will honor your desire to grow closer to Him.
