Kirk Franklin is stepping into a new chapter in his legendary career.
The 20-time Grammy Award-winning gospel artist, songwriter, producer, and music icon has entered into a new partnership with Uptown Records, in collaboration with his company Fo Yo Soul Entertainment and TRIBL Music Group. The announcement comes as Uptown Records celebrates its 40th anniversary and marks another major moment for Franklin, whose career has helped shape contemporary gospel music while bringing the genre to audiences across generations.
Franklin is also celebrating the partnership with new music. His latest single, “Thank You For Everything,” features gospel legend Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters. The accompanying music video recently made its broadcast debut on BET Her.

A New Chapter for a Gospel Icon
For more than three decades, Franklin has blended gospel, R&B, hip-hop, soul, and contemporary sounds to create music that speaks to both faith and culture. With 20 Grammy Awards, multiple platinum certifications, billions of streams and views, and more than 20 albums to his name, his influence extends far beyond traditional gospel music. And if you grew up in the ’90s, you probably know all the words to “Melodies From Heaven.” Rain…!
Franklin expressed his excitement about joining the Uptown family, describing the partnership as an honor and saying he is thankful and excited about what lies ahead. The partnership brings together three influential forces in music: Uptown Records, a label with a historic legacy in hip-hop and R&B; Fo Yo Soul Entertainment, Franklin’s faith-centered entertainment company; and TRIBL Music Group, a major force in contemporary Christian, gospel, and worship music.
For Franklin, the collaboration represents more than another career milestone. It’s an opportunity to continue creating music that connects faith, culture, and generations. And if “Thank You For Everything” is any indication, there is more music on the way.
