Somewhere along the way, many of us have become so focused on what’s next that we forget to stop and ask ourselves what’s missing. We know what we want to achieve, what we want to fix, what we are praying for. But how often do we actually ask ourselves what do we need? Just life the weather has seasons, so does life. And what you needed in your twenties may not be what you need today. What fulfilled you a few years ago may not be what fulfills you now. Maybe the woman you are growing to become requires different things than the woman you used to be.
Maybe you have been feeling restless lately. Something feels off even though everything looks fine on the surface. That’s often what happens when we’ve outgrown a season, a mindset, or a version of ourselves, and our heart is quietly telling us it’s ready for something different. That “something different” looks different for every Queen. It might be companionship and the courage to start dating again. It might be more connection, affection, and romance in your marriage. It could be peace, joy, healing, stronger boundaries, or a renewed sense of purpose. Or maybe you’ve come face-to-face with a truth you’ve been avoiding: you aren’t happy, and deep down you know something needs to change.
How often do we stop long enough to ask ourselves what is it that we need? Whatever it is, here’s your reminder: you don’t get a cookie for constantly running on empty. Society will gladly celebrate your busyness, even when it leaves you feeling worn out and empty. Meanwhile, you may be neglecting the very things that make you feel whole.
Life is too short to keep postponing the things that nourish your heart, light your spirit on fire, and bring you genuine joy. Stop treating your needs like they’re at the bottom of some endless waiting list. Stop convincing yourself you’ll get around to them “one day.” Sis, one day has a way of turning into weeks, months, and then years. And sometimes, making room for what you need will require you to set a boundary, change a priority, or give yourself permission to stop feeling guilty for choosing what helps you grow.
So today, pause and ask yourself one simple question: What do I need more of in this season of my life? And once you have the answer, don’t just acknowledge it, make room for it and be intentional about it. In other words, don’t just talk about it, be about it. Because life isn’t just about surviving another day or season. You’re allowed to want more than survival. You’re allowed to grow, thrive, and create a life that feels fulfilling. It’s about recognizing what your heart, mind, and spirit need and giving yourself permission to pursue it.
